STANDING UP FOR SCOTLAND’S HILLS, GLENS, AND COMMUNITIES

Leave Our Hills Alone is a community led group, formed first to save Dalmacallan and Glencairn from Vestas’ wind farm proposal, and further to protect rural landscapes, wildlife, and local communities from inappropriate large scale energy developments.

Our landscape. Our community. Our voice.

Protecting Scotland’s Landscapes, Communities and Democratic Voice

We believe that climate action must not come at the cost of environmental destruction, loss of democratic participation, or irreversible harm to the places people call home. Across Scotland, hills and glens are being targeted for industrial wind farms, battery storage sites, solar parks, access roads, substations, and grid infrastructure.

These developments are often proposed with limited scrutiny, rushed consultation, and claims that do not fully reflect their long term environmental and social impacts.

We exist to challenge this approach and to ensure that communities have a clear, informed, and united voice.

About Leave Our Hills Alone

The Dalmacallan Proposal

Understand The Proposal

Vestas is proposing a major wind farm at Dalmacallan, south-east of Moniaive, comprising up to 17 turbines reaching as high as 200 metres. The development would also include access tracks, foundations and associated infrastructure, bringing significant industrial development into the hills and landscape surrounding the Glencairn valley.

200m Turbines

200m Turbines

16 turbines are proposed at heights of up to 200 metres, with an alternative 17-turbine layout at up to 180 metres.

Landscape Impact

The development would introduce major industrial infrastructure into the prominent hills surrounding Moniaive and the Glencairn valley.

Environmental Risk
